Local Safety Information
The Takoma DC Orange Hats are volunteers for neighborhood safety. We are sponsored by the Takoma DC Neighborhood Association, with help from other community organizations, local businesses, and neighbors. Our goal is to keep the streets of our neighborhood safe! Orange Hat Groups have existed in DC for more than a decade. During the five years that our group has existed, dozens of neighbors in Takoma have participated in safety patrols, plus community events, social events, and neighborhood meetings. We are a non-cofrontational and non-violent group. Criminal activity is referred to the police. Public nuisance issues are reported to the Mayor's Hotline, to our Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC), and to other stakeholders.
